Airam SmartHome – Privacy Policy
This Privacy Policy describes how your personal data is processed when you use the Airam SmartHome application. Before you start using the application, please read this Privacy Policy carefully. It explains how we use, store, share and transfer your personal data. You will also find information about the purposes of processing your personal data and how you can exercise your data protection rights.

This Privacy Policy describes how your personal data is processed when using the Airam SmartHome application (“Application”). The Application can be used to control and manage Airam SmartHome devices. The Application together with the connected Airam SmartHome devices form the Airam SmartHome service.
Before you start using the Application, please read this Privacy Policy carefully. It explains how we use, store, share and transfer your personal data, as well as the purposes of processing and how you can exercise your rights related to data protection.
Definitions
Personal data refers to any information in any form that can be directly or indirectly linked to you or another individual.
Smart devices, such as Airam SmartHome devices, are devices whose user interface enables a wireless connection to a network and the collection and transmission of data.
What personal data is collected, for what purposes and on what legal basis?
To provide the service, we collect and process the following personal data. More detailed purposes of processing are described below.
The legal basis for processing your data is the contract between you and Airam, which is formed when you create an account in the Application and accept the Application’s terms of use (GDPR Article 6(1)(b)).
Application
- Account information:
When you first download the Application, you are required to create an account before using it. You will be asked to provide a valid email address. We will send a verification code to this email address so you can create a password and activate your account. Your email address serves as your username, but you may also set a nickname and a profile picture.
In addition, the following information is collected from your mobile device for account setup: geographical region and time zone. - Feedback information:
We collect your contact details (email address or mobile phone number, depending on your choice) and the content of your feedback in order to process your inquiry and resolve reported issues. - Mobile device information:
The following information is collected automatically from your mobile device and is used to ensure normal operation of the Application, improve and optimize the service, and protect account security: device model, IP address, wireless network information, operating system type and version, Application version number, push notification identifier, mobile network information, and software version. - Usage data:
When using the Application, usage data related to your actions is collected automatically. This data is used to provide and improve the service. - Log data:
When you use the Application, system and exception logs may be uploaded for troubleshooting purposes. Logs may include your IP address, language settings, operating system version, and date or time of use.
Where possible, we process device and log data in aggregated or pseudonymised form.
Smart devices
- Basic device information:
When you connect smart devices to the Application, we collect basic information such as device name, device ID/MAC address, online status, activation time, firmware version, update information and Wi-Fi details. - Sensor data:
Data detected, stored and transmitted by sensors of connected smart devices, such as motion, vibration, time, humidity, smoke, other environmental effects, or intrusion into living spaces. - Video material:
If you connect a video camera to the Application, the collected data may include real-time video footage. You are responsible for ensuring that the use of cameras and video material complies with data protection legislation. Do not place cameras in locations that infringe on others’ privacy and ensure that recording surveillance is clearly indicated.
You may remove any smart device from the Application at any time to stop the collection and processing of data from that device. This does not affect data collected prior to removal.
Additional Application features
The Application includes additional features that require your consent. By enabling such features, you consent to the collection and processing of personal data necessary to provide them.
You may withdraw your consent at any time via the Application settings. Withdrawal does not affect data processing carried out before consent was withdrawn.
If additional features are disabled, you can continue using the basic functions of the Application and connected devices, but some features may no longer be available.
- Location data: Used for device pairing and automation scenarios. You can enable or disable location access in the Application settings.
- Camera data: Used for scanning QR codes, recording video, etc. Data is accessed only when actively using the camera.
- Photos and videos: Used for profile pictures or reporting issues. Uploaded media is used solely to resolve reported problems.
- Audio: Required for voice control features. Audio is collected only when you actively enable microphone use.
- Notifications: Used to send service-related notifications. Can be enabled or disabled in the message centre.
- Smart device alerts: Notifications from connected devices. Can be managed in the message centre.
- Bluetooth: Required for device discovery, control and status display. Can be enabled or disabled in settings.
- Live video: Allows viewing real-time camera feeds. Can be enabled or disabled in settings.
- Storage permissions (Android): Used to ensure stable Application operation, including storing logs locally.
Data analytics and personalised marketing
With your consent, we analyse usage data to improve our services and products. With consent, analysed data may also be used to send you personalised recommendations. You can manage these settings in the Application.
Data sharing
We may share personal data with third-party service providers that support the Airam SmartHome service. These include Hangzhou Tuya Technology Co. Ltd, which operates the IoT platform and developed the Application.
Data transfers outside the EU/EEA
Airam uses Tuya Information Technology Co. Ltd for development and maintenance of the Application and IoT platform. This may involve transferring data to China. Transfers are conducted using the European Commission’s Standard Contractual Clauses (SCCs).
Your rights
You have the right to:
- access your data
- rectify incorrect personal data
- restrict or object to processing in certain circumstances
You may delete your account at any time in the Application settings, which will result in deletion of your personal data.
To exercise your rights, contact us at info@airam.fi using the same email address you registered with, if possible. Requests are processed within 30 days and free of charge.
Security measures
We apply commercially reasonable physical, administrative and technical safeguards to protect your personal data. Data transmission uses encrypted protocols, and stored data is securely encrypted.
Data retention
Personal data is processed only as long as necessary to provide the service. When no longer required, data is permanently deleted.
Inactive accounts are deleted one year after the last login.
Changes to this Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy to reflect changes in our practices. Material changes will be communicated via email or in-app notifications. Please review this page regularly.
