Cooking is easy and safe when worktops are illuminated from above. A ceiling luminaire is an excellent solution for general lighting but it must not be the only source of illumination for worktops because light that comes from behind your back creates distracting shadows when you are cooking.
The easiest worktop lighting solution is to mount extendable LED strips underneath cabinets. For a neat finish, mount the LED strips inside an aluminium profile. When task light is evenly dispersed across the work surfaces, no distracting shadows are created and illumination levels remain sufficient.
The worktop material influences the choice of lighting. Highly polished worktops and metal surfaces are effective at reflecting light. You can eliminate glare caused by reflected light and cover bright light sources with opal LED profiles. Profiles also help create a neat finish for your kitchen.
The Linear LED profile range offers an easy way of creating a kitchen lighting solution that suits your needs and can be adapted even after installation. The profiles can be joined together directly or connected with connecting cables. The range also includes corner pieces, enabling an uninterrupted line of light. The rounded Auri LED downlights are easy to install and can also be used for renovated houses. They lend themselves to various uses, including worktop illumination when mounted underneath cabinets.
Safety first and foremost
Pay attention to safety regulations, particularly in the vicinity of water supply points. A luminaire may only be placed underneath a drying cabinet if it is drip- or splatter-proof. If the luminaire is equipped with a socket without a cover, it must be mounted no less than 50 cm above the worktop. Ask a professional electrician to perform electrical installation. Luminaires that are connected to the electricity supply network in a fixed manner must be installed by a qualified electrician.
