Environmental policy

Our environmental policy sets the targets and principles for our environmental work. These cover our operations, products and services. We comply with environmental laws and regulations that pertain to our operations. In addition, our environmental operations are guided by our sustainability principles, the ISO 14001 standard, the amfori BSCI Code of Conduct and the UN Global Compact initiative. 

We undertake to protect the environment and to prevent environmental damage in line with the precautionary principle. We take the environmental impact of our operations into account in accordance with our sustainability programme: 

• We undertake to develop our products and operations continuously to improve our environmental protection measures, reduce our environmental impact and to optimise our use of resources.  

• We improve our understanding of our products’ environmental impact. We develop the indicators we use. 

• We consider environmental aspects in product design. We improve the quality of our product management processes. We make choices that promote the use and development of eco-friendly technology. 

• We consider environmental matters in material selection and procurement.  

• We strive to make our packaging functional and environmentally friendly. 

• We develop our products, solutions and processes in a way that helps to limit climate change. We pay attention to our emissions from travel and transport and the other environmental impacts of these operations by planning our deliveries carefully with our collaboration partners. 

• We strive to avoid wastage, enable easy recycling and minimise the amount of waste generated throughout our value chain.  

• We pay attention to environmental values at our facilities and in travel for work. 

• We communicate openly about environmental matters to our stakeholders. We promote awareness of energy-efficiency, product safety and recycling of lighting solutions. 

We regularly assess our operations’ environmental risks. We do our utmost to eliminate and minimise such risks. We invest in training for our staff and work together with our stakeholders to develop our products and to meet our environmental promises. 

Our environmental policy covers the entire Airam Group, and it is approved by Airam Electric’s CEO and management team. We require all our business partners and stakeholders to operate sustainably, comply with local environmental laws and manage their environmental impact in a risk-based manner.
