Supply chain management

Airam’s value chain
Our responsibility for people, the economy and the environment does not stop within our own walls. We continuously develop the responsibility of our supply chains by working with long-term subcontractors and partners.
Our products are manufactured in Finland, Europe and Asia. Procurement chains to raw materials extend even further. We recognize the challenges related to long supply chains, such as difficulties in traceability and the limited real opportunities to influence the origin, production conditions or environmental impacts of the rare raw materials required in electrical and electronic devices. We monitor the ethical conduct of production in high-risk countries, the realization of human rights and the environmental impacts of production through amfori BSCI audits.

Supply chain management
We engage in long-term cooperation with subcontractors and other partners to develop the supply chain. We assess production in risk countries through amfori BSCI audits, conduct our own factory visits and keep regular contact with our suppliers. We require our suppliers to commit to Airam’s supplier guidelines and to amfori’s Code of Conduct. Suppliers must comply with the laws of the country of production, EU chemical legislation and the requirements set by Airam regarding supply chain practices and the safety and quality of products.
Long supply chains pose challenges, and tracing the origin of raw materials is not always straightforward. We also cannot in all cases directly influence the origin, production conditions or environmental impacts of the raw materials used in electrical and electronic products. We develop supply chain management step by step and require our suppliers to comply with REACH and RoHS requirements and to take into account the risks related to conflict minerals. In addition, we consider environmental impacts in tenders related to production and logistics.

Own production facility and logistics center
Airam has its own production facility in Lahti and a logistics center in Kerava. We manufacture some of our products in Lahti, where production is currently focused on manufacturing lighting fixtures, assembly and product customization. The Kerava logistics center serves as Airam’s logistics center, through which products are delivered to customers in Finland, Sweden and export markets. We continuously develop our logistics operations to ensure the supply chain is as smooth and efficient as possible.
Our operations are governed by an ISO 9001 quality management system, an ISO 14001 environmental management system, and an ISO 45001 occupational health and safety management system.

Social responsibility
Airam’s social responsibility means safe and healthy working conditions as well as equal and fair treatment. We offer our employees meaningful work in a safe and inspiring environment.

Quality assurance
We work closely with our producers and laboratories to ensure that every product is tested and approved before it is brought to market. Our quality team in Kerava inspects and tests products and handles complaints without delay.

Commitments and Certifications
Through commitments and certifications we want to communicate our determined work to develop our operations and products. We participate in the UN’s Global Compact corporate responsibility initiative and are members of amfori BSCI and BEPI. We also require our suppliers to commit to amfori’s Code of Conduct.
