Commitments and certificates
Key commitments
Through our commitments and certificates, we want to communicate the determined work we do to develop our operations and products. Our quality, environmental and occupational health and safety management systems comply with the ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 standards. We are a participant in the UN Global Compact corporate responsibility initiative and a member of amfori BSCI and BEPI. We also require our suppliers to commit to amfori’s Code of Conduct, which is based on the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, environmental principles and workers’ rights. We report on our sustainability work annually through the UN Global Compact and CDP.
UN Sustainable Development Goals
We are committed to supporting the UN Sustainable Development Goals in our operations. The goals are also known as Agenda 2030 and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). They aim to eradicate poverty and achieve sustainable development that takes the environment, the economy and people into equal consideration. Of the SDGs, Goals 8, 12 and 13 are particularly related to our activities.
UN Global Compact
We joined the Global Compact in December 2020 and commit to following its ten principles and reporting annually to the UN with a CoP report. The Global Compact is the UN’s corporate responsibility initiative that promotes environmental, social and economic responsibility. It is based on the UN Sustainable Development Goals and the ten principles (human rights, labour, the environment and anti-corruption).
CDP reporting
Since 2021 we have reported our climate data as a supplier through CDP. CDP (formerly the Carbon Disclosure Project) is a non-profit organization that helps companies and cities measure and publicly report their environmental impacts.
Science-Based Yargets
We joined the Science Based Targets initiative, a joint effort by the Global Compact, CDP, WWF and the World Resources Institute, in early 2023. Companies that join the initiative commit to setting science-based targets for reducing their greenhouse gas emissions in line with the Paris Agreement’s 1.5°C goal.
amfori BSCI and BEPI
We have been an amfori member since 2021 and are committed to operating in accordance with amfori’s ethical principles (BSCI Code of Conduct) and the principles of environmental responsibility (BEPI Code of Conduct). We also require our business partners to commit to the same principles. Factories in high-risk countries that produce our products are regularly audited by a third party under amfori BSCI or an equivalent social responsibility system.
ISO-certified management system
Our management system follows the ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 standards for quality, environmental and occupational health and safety management. Our management system is audited annually both internally and by an external auditor. Our management system was ISO-certified in 2024.
EcoVadis
We achieved a Silver rating in our second EcoVadis assessment, conducted in summer 2025. Only 15% of assessed companies reach this level. EcoVadis is one of the most internationally recognized providers of corporate sustainability assessments. EcoVadis’ rating includes an evaluation of a company’s sustainability across 21 criteria within four areas of sustainability management: environmental responsibility, labour and human rights, ethics, and responsible purchasing.
Design from Finland
Airam is a member of the Association for Finnish Work. Some of our products carry the Design from Finland label, which indicates that the product or service has been designed in Finland and that professional design has been invested in it.
Avainlippu
Airam is a member of the Association for Finnish Work. Certain lamps we manufacture in Lahti carry the Key Flag label, which indicates that the product is made in Finland.
FSC trademark license
Airam holds an FSC trademark license, and we use FSC labels on product packaging where the material used meets FSC requirements. The FSC label indicates that the packaging materials come from certified or controlled sources.
